Weeknight/Weekend Relief Manager

Location: Ronald McDonald House of Providence

Position Summary:
The Relief Manager provides primary, on-site supervision of the House while on shift between the hours of 5-9pm on weekdays and 9pm (Friday)-9pm (Sunday). During weekend shifts, the Relief Manager will maintain a normal sleep schedule, however; that sleep may be interrupted at times to deal with any House issues/emergencies.

This position is part-time and does not include benefits. The pay rate is $14.00-$16.00 hourly.

Minimum Qualifications:
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Experience working with diverse groups, prior social service experience preferred
*Warm, approachable, empathetic personality
*Ability to adapt and remain composed during stressful/crises situations
*CPR certified (or willing to become certified)
*Must be at least 21 years of age

*Managing crisis/emergency situations which may arise during the shift, such as: emergency check-ins from the hospital, family members getting locked out, or maintenance problems
*Assume primary responsibility for closing up and securing the house in the evening, opening the House in the morning, and completing housekeeping duties as needed to ensure a clean and welcoming space.
*Maintaining a high standard of hospitality, making families as comfortable as possible throughout their stay at RMHC by promoting an atmosphere of warmth and support in the House, providing a listening ear for families and interacting in a compassionate and respectful manner
*Remaining on the premises at all times

Director of Finance


Position Summary:
This senior leadership position is responsible for strategy and execution, as well as strategic thought partnership with the CEO and hands-on team management, within the following areas: finance; accounting, planning and budgeting; legal; human resources; and administration. He/she plays a critical role in strategic decision-making and operations as the organization continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. Essential Job Functions (abbreviated):

Financial Management

*Lead annual financial planning process in conjunction with the CEO

*Responsible for the preparation and integrity of the financial statements

*Present financial reports to organizational leadership, colleagues and others in an accurate and timely manner

*Lead the annual audit process and liaison with external auditors, the board treasurer and board finance committee

*Prepare and file the organization’s federal (Form 990) and state tax returns

Operational Management 

*Ensure that the organization’s administrative and operational processes, including information technology, office management and other key functions, are meeting the needs of the organization

*Develop Standard Operating Procedures and ensure that proper policies and procedures are in place to protect the organization’s assets

Human Resources 

*Responsible for the human resources activities of RMHCNE

*Responsible for recruiting, hiring and professional development for all employees

Legal Compliance

*Develop proper procedures to ensure that the organization maintains its tax exempt status

*Ensure that the organization complies with all federal, state and local laws

Team Management 

*Develop and manage direct staff; department consultants; and guide larger multi-disciplinary teams


Ancillary Job Functions:
*Serve as a staff liaison to assigned board committees (finance, technology)


Education and Experience:
*An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered

*A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a CPA and or accounting degree strongly preferred, MBA helpful

*A professionally mature leader with 8-10 years of relevant professional experience

*Experience managing broad financial areas

Chief Executive Officer


Position Summary:
The CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England (RMHCNE) will ensure the path forward for a newly integrated Chapter operating programs in New England, specifically in Boston and Providence. The CEO will lead in a mission-driven environment providing strong leadership to increase the organization’s visibility, funding and the development of its programs. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for guiding the Board in the development of the vision and strategy for the organization, and for the successful implementation of that strategy. Together, the Board and CEO will right size the organization in order to be a philanthropic leader in pediatric support for some of the top children’s hospitals and clinical service providers in the world.  (See below for complete job description)

*Maintains a strong relationship with the global office of Ronald McDonald House Charities to ensure compliance of standards.

*Cultivates a strong relationship with McDonald’s Owner/Operators to assure ongoing support.

*Serves as RMHCNE’s lead spokesperson and advocate.

Finance Programs and Operations

*Evaluates all aspects of the organizations’ operations, programs and personnel on a regular basis.

*Understands the purpose, goals and challenges of each core program and how each fits into the organizations’ mission and strategic plan.

*Sets clear operational goals and standards to ensure the needs of families are met.

*Possesses a thorough understanding of all aspects of the organizations’ financial condition, budget and investments.

Fundraising Leadership

*Energizes and leads the Board of Directors and other senior staff in a capital campaign to build a new Ronald McDonald House in Boston – based on the need for 100+ bedrooms.

*Builds, maintains and prioritizes new and existing relationships with funders, major donors, volunteers and other stakeholders.

*Collaborates with the development team to develop a fundraising strategy for a multi-year development plan.

*Works in collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer to identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts and grants.

Communications, Marketing and Outreach

*Collaborates with Marketing and Communications staff (under CAO) to develop a communications and marketing strategy that is clear and measurable to fundraise, keep stakeholders informed, promote the organization and educate the general public.

*Develops an external plan to engage the broader community in Boston as to the case for support for bringing together Providence and Boston to expand reach in Boston.

Board Relations

*Serves as the key staff person managing the work of the Board of Directors including strategic planning, membership, meeting agendas, retreats and other work.

*Cultivates a strong relationship with each Board Member to ascertain and maximize each person’s skill set for the benefit of RMHCNE.

*Assists Board leadership in developing a culture of significant personal giving and the importance of Board involvement in fundraising and capital campaign success.


*Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) with 10 or more years relevant leadership experience.

*A seasoned leader with a proved track record of growing, supporting and supervising staff and inspiring creativity and dedication to the mission and a healthy work environment.

*Exceptional planning skills, goal and results orientated and deadline driven.

*Experience with a full range of fundraising opportunities, preferably inclusive of individual, corporate, major and planned gifts, annual and capital campaigns, events and grants.

*Established relationships and connections in the Boston area for leveraging a major capital campaign.

*Demonstrated success as an organizational leader responsible for management of organizational growth and change.

*Experience with families in crisis or hospitality house-related programs a plus.
